Proactiv Review
I have tried ProActiv a few years ago because at the time I had acne almost every day. It seemed like a flair up that wouldn’t go away by conventional methods. I was very motivated by all of the commercials I saw and the celebrity endorsements about getting rid of acne.
When I received it, everything was very self-explanatory as far as the steps that needed to be followed and how much of the product to use. I started with a pea size amount of the cleanser which did manage to cover my whole face – at first I thought it seemed like it wouldn’t be enough. The toner smelled fine and worked the same way my regular toner did. The lotion was very light on my skin (which is great since I have oily skin) and smelled nice.
The first week went fine but I noticed that my skin seemed a little tender. The second week I used it my face burned every time that I washed my face. I started to use less of the product at that point. I went from using a pea size amount to using about half of that. At the end of the second week, my face felt like leather and was bright red. My skin was also very dry and tender to the touch. Someone from work commented that it looked like I got a real bad sunburn on my face. I didn’t want to give up since I was so determined to get rid of my acne. By this time I believe I had but it was hard to tell since my entire face was red. My husband was so worried that he called the company who told me to stop using the product and ship it back. He packaged it up and shipped it back before I got my hands on it again.
I’m Asian so I don’t know if it is because I have a different skin type? I’ve noticed recently that there is a lighter formula that can be used. Luckily, a few weeks later after returning to my regular regiment my skin returned to normal and my acne went away. I’ve been acne free ever since.
